Cultivate Blue Line Extension
A Creative Approach to Community Engagement
Minneapolis, Mn
The Blue Line Extension has been in planning for many years. In late 2020, project partners announced a new direction that would serve even more people and destinations, while maintaining as much of a previously-explored route as possible.
Project partners are working closely with community partners and other stakeholders to advance the project and plan for community and economic development near station areas. And this will work continue for the next few years.
Cultivate Arts engages communities along the METRO Blue Line Extension corridor to build artist capacity, demonstrate arts and placemaking tools, and activate the creative economy through culturally representative arts-based activities.
NEOO's engagement team helped select and manage 10 artists to engage communities in the Metro Blue Line Extension corridor with culturally representative arts activities to inform and educate community along with collecting their feedback about the developments of the BLRT project.
This project provides a creative approach to engaging corridor communities at 35 different events with over 3400 residents participating in workshops, conversations, concerts and other cultural programs that highlighted the diversity of the corridor
